It is time to
realise that the rat race destroys the best in us, namely love and freedom.
Refusing the consumer society can safeguard us against the pitfalls of life.
Mankind is a whole,
thus we are all involved whether we deal with war or natural resources
depletion. We should be aware of our accountability to the Earth and future
generations and learn to look not only after ourselves but also after others.
Our salvation lies in substituting self-centredness and xenophobia for
boundless generosity.
Music constitutes the best means of reuniting men, for
it is a formidable social force teaching listening to others and consequently
tolerance, creativity and self-fulfilment. Utopian though it may sound, Mankind
needs such idealism to progress. (125 words)
Careerism, the rat
race, commercial values are lethal for they lead us to ignore the essential:
liberty, like the liberty to play the piano or the violin.
We are all part of
humanity and collectively responsible for the planet. Are we really aware of
it?
We are responsible
for ourselves and for others. Consequently, we should share everything we have
as it is a guarantee of peace. The arts and music in particular are
fundamental. Playing an instrument involves listening as well, thus making us
more tolerant. The artist’s role is to open minds and liberate talents. We
dream of a better world. It may be utopian but it is an ideal necessary for the
progress of humanity. (124 words)
Materialism kills what is the
best in us: love and freedom. But we can choose another way of life punctuated
by music, and better for us.
Humanity is indivisible,
that’s why we have responsibilities towards each other and the whole humanity
should worry about the dangers threatening the world.
Artists should assume the
responsibility of their faults instead of blaming others. Furthermore we should
be far more generous and defend out enenmies as well as ourselves.
Indeed sharing and listening
to others remain the best way to preserve peace. So musicians having these two
qualities tend to set and maintain harmony between people.
Dreaming of a
utopian world with eternal peace is not vain, it helps Mankind to progress.
Money and the rat race kills love and liberty. We
must learn once again what is essential in life and forget what is polluting
our minds, such as the consumer society.
We all belong to the same
entity, that is why we all feel the world’s wide pain. But it also implies that
we must be involved in this pain to solve it.
From our childhood we should
be responsible for the people too and care about them instead of protecting
ourselves against foreigners.
Sharing is still the best
guarantor of peace. Music is a good example, because you don’t only play you
also listen, you do not give, you also receive.
Indeed, we may be utopians, but
without utopia there is no progress for Mankind.
