The Prometheus Partnership

Dedicated to raising awareness of, and promoting standards of excellence in EFT.

Recent shocking coverage of soldiers back from Iraq with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, who are being discharged with no pensions and little support, has inspired Plymouth based Jean Faithful and Isy Grigg to join forces. They believe that men who have served their country and defended its countrymen deserve better treatment than they are currently receiving, so together they formed the ‘Prometheus Partnership’.

Prometheus was the wisest Titan in Greek mythology, who was credited with bringing enlightenment to humans. He stole fire from the gods and gave it to humankind, bringing the power of warmth and light in to times of darkness. This name represents what is hoped to be achieved by the planned study into PTSD and the use of Emotional Freedom Technique as a method of treatment.

Isy Grigg & Jean FaithfulThey want to put together enough compelling information and data to present to the heads of public services to show them that treating psychological conditions efficiently, which they are confident can be proved with their study, can be highly cost effective. This far outweighs losing a highly trained member of staff or keeping them on medication with little option of recouping good health.

Combined, Isy & Jean have over 30 years experience in the alternative health arena and have both been using EFT on clients with impressive results for the last few years. Both therapists have extensive experience in running workshops and give regular consultations. Isy also teaches for the WEA and Caradon Council adult Ed Dept. They say,

‘This whole concept is incredibly exciting and potentially life changing for so many people in so many different professions. Armed forces, Police (Hillsborough disaster for instance) Paramedics, Firemen, Rescue teams, and Lifeboat men etc. The numbers of individuals who are finding themselves completely debilitated by the continual re living of traumas and horrors they have experienced in the past, seem to be on the increase, with only very limited avenues of effective treatment or medication available to them.

The study we are carrying out is aimed at scrutinising the effects of PTSD and the effectiveness of EFT in erasing emotional intensity and intrusive thoughts, along with insomnia and other associated conditions. We are looking for volunteers to take part in our research who have been diagnosed or believe they suffer from the effects of PTSD.

Although our services will be free of charge, volunteers must willingly allow us to use the documented information gathered during interviews and treatment (identities may be kept hidden if required) as well as be willing to give their testimonials outlining how they feel before and after treatment. This study will cover numerous points which we hope to present to various official bodies in order to introduce this cost effective treatment as an alternative to long term illness and drug dependency which bears such a high cost not only in personal hardship of sufferer and their families, but also the tax payers.

Do you, or anyone you know, suffer from P.T.S.D?

We are looking for a limited number of volunteers to take part in a ground-breaking UK study of an effective treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This therapy has been used successfully at the Veterans Administration Facility at Pennsylvania in the USA, which is a hospital for traumatised Vietnam War Veterans.'

Some of these veterans had been receiving conventional psychological and drug therapy for over 20 years, yet still remained traumatized, unable to sleep without nightmares, consistently bothered by intrusive memories of sights and scenes which they had witnessed or participated in.

Within days of treatment starting, these veterans reported incredible improvements in their sleep patterns and general state of mind.

We are experiencing similar results.

If you, or anyone you know, would like to take part in this study, you can find us at Theprometheuspartnership@yahoo,com

Please note: There are no drugs involved in this treatment.

Our Objective (Pre research study)

Our objective is to collect enough compelling evidence in our pre research study to prove that EFT facilitates a major reduction, or elimination, of intensity of feelings in sufferers of PTSD who suffer some or all of the following;

  • Flashbacks
  • Nightmares/bad dreams
  • Insomnia
  • Mood swings
  • Sudden Rage/Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Sweats
  • Intrusive thoughts of their Trauma/s Depression
  • Bouts of crying Emotional numbness
  • Feelings of guilt (for the effect their actions had or have on others)
  • Feelings of shame (for something they have done)
  • Inability to concentrate

Our Aims

To present to the MOD + Rescue services how EFT is an efficient and effective first stop treatment which can be introduced at any point from De-brief stage onward to combat potential psychological effects that may develop as a result of traumatic experiences in the line of duty. In essence; to prevent people who work for the public having to live in their nightmares as a result of doing their public duty.

To encourage the independent use of EFT by individual Military and Rescue Services personnel.

To heighten awareness of this technique to clinicians and Doctors throughout the country thereby reducing NHS costs and Pharmaceutical bills; and allow general practices all over the country to use their resources more effectively. Regular NHS run EFT clinics could reduce overheads dramatically.
